Which factors must be taken into account?

1. The intensity of radiation (E), that is the dosage of radiation which is influenced by multiple criteria (i.e. type of lamp, distance). The rate is mostly indicated as W/m².

2. The time of radiation (t).

Thus the dosage is defined as UV intensity x time (H = E x t).

Another essential factor are the physical quality of the water. Depending on the composition of minerals it has a higher or lower absorptive power. This power is defined with an absorption coefficient (example: Water has an absorption coefficient of 0,02 to 0,1). The absorption of fresh or salt water is quite higher and depends on additives and the degree of pollution.
